Sitka Blacktail Deer & Sea Ducks
Hunt trophy deer from a fly in tent camp on one of the four northern most islands in the Kodiak Island archipelago. Hunting is late in the season on open tidal beaches and adjacent spruce forests.
Trophy bull Roosevelt Elk can be hunted from the same camp with time permitting in the contracted hunt for a fee. Trophy Kodiak Brown bear can also be hunted from the same camp. Brown bear season starts Oct. 25 and ends Nov. 30. Brown bear permits are allocated through a drawing held in June. See Brown bear GMU 8 description for hunting brown bears in this area.
Three color phases of Red Fox are available to hunt. You are allowed two on your hunting license in this area at no additional cost.
We are also hunting exotic sea ducks drifting in layout boats in protected waters over decoys and from the beach. Species include Harlequin, Old Squaw, Goldeneye (Common & Barrows), Merganzers (Common & Red Breasted), Scoters (Black, White Winged, & Serf), Buffelhead, Greater Scaup, & Common Eider.
Bag limit, 7 sea ducks per day, 20 in possession, a total of four each of the following species: Harlequin, Old Squaw, Scoters (each specie), Common Eider. Steel shot is mandatory. 12 gauge with 3 ½ inch or 10 gauge recommended.
