Mountain Goat
Hunt trophy Mountain Goat on the north eastern end of Kodiak Island. Mountain goat can be found anywhere from 500 ft - 1200 ft above sea level. This is the least physically grueling of any Mountain Goat hunt in the world. This hunt can be conducted from a heated-tent base camp. Tent camps are accessed either by boat, horse back or hike in. Old age trophy class billies inhabit this area. Over 100 permits are available in this area. Permits are allocated through a drawing held in December for the following fall hunting season.
A Kodiak Brown bear hunt can be combined with this hunt. The brown bear season starts October 25th. Brown bear permits are distributed over the counter at the fish and game office in Kodiak through a registration system of allocation. Trophy Sitka Blacktail deer can be hunted in conjunction with this goat hunt with time remaining in the contracted hunt period for a trophy fee per buck. The deer season ends in this area November 1st. Two red fox are allowed per hunting license. Catch and release trophy steelhead sport fishing is available this time of year and is accessed from the road system on Kodiak Island.
